The Literacy Collective, led by Brittany Philipsen and Danielle Lucas-Adam, is an educational consultancy dedicated to improving literacy achievement in schools. We are literacy leaders committed to fostering leader and teacher capacity through individualized, targeted development and data-driven systems to ensure all students experience an equitable and meaningful education centered on robust academic outcomes.

Brittany strives to expand access to scientifically-based reading instruction by bridging the gap between reading research and instruction for educators across the country. With her experience as an elementary educator, instructional coach, literacy specialist, school leader, and literacy consultant supporting schools and educators across the country, Brittany has cultivated sustainable change to foster equitable access to literacy for all students. This experience, combined with earning a Master's degree from the innovative Reading Science program at Mount St. Joseph University and attaining Structured Literacy Certification from the Center for Effective Reading Instruction, has given Brittany a high level of expertise in reading research, evidence-based literacy practices, and school-wide systems for assessment, data analysis, coaching, and professional development. Brittany is a resolute advocate of the science of reading, and holds the steadfast belief that every child can learn to read. In collaboration with districts, schools, and educators, Brittany supports the advancement of reading education in the United States and hopes to contribute to systemic change.
